Bushnell Pro XE vs Tour V5 Shift

I was very excited to review these two rangefinders and compare them head-to-head. Bushnell is the leading brand in the rangefinder space and the Pro XE and Tour V5 Shift are their two top-rated products. I have reviewed both of these rangefinders before, however, I have never compared them head-to-head, and although we deemed the Pro XE as the “best golf rangefinder 2022“, this battle was a little more interesting than I would’ve thought.

Bottom Line
It’s fairly simple; this is the best rangefinder on the market. If you are trying to get the most accurate measurement to the pin with the most reliability, and no nonsense, this is as good as it gets. The Bushnell Pro XE is the number one rangefinder in professional golf, with most players on the PGA Tour pro’s utilizing this particular model. It has the clearest optics of any Bushnell ever, and uses a combination of distance, slope, temperature, and barometric pressure to give you the most precise compensated distances possible. The rubber armored metal housing gives the Pro XE the highest quality look and feel and I just can’t say enough about the simplicity and superior accuracy of this product. Yes, there are other rangefinders that include GPS, bluetooth connectivity, and other fancy features, but honestly those can get a little too complicated. If you want the best rangefinder on the market and have $550 to spare, this is your best bet!

Bottom Line
It’s hard to want much more out of e rangefinder that what you get with the Tour V5 Shift. I have used this rangefinder many times, and it performs wonderfully. It looks great with the contrasting black and red (the red also sets it apart from the Tour V5), sits comfortably in the palm, and most importantly it measure accurately and efficiently. My only grudges with the Tour V5 Shift is that it isn’t waterproof, and the fact that it does what a lot of cheaper rangefinders do, but for double the price.

Our Verdict

Although many could’ve guessed that the winner of this battle would be the Bushnell Pro XE, I still believe it is a valuable comparison to look at when trying to make the most informed decision on which rangefinder to purchase. When looking at these two top-tier products it really comes down to subtle differences and price. The Tour V5 Shift is not far behind the Pro XE in terms of looks or performance, however, where it is lacking is in the waterproof category as well as being able to calculate the elements such as temperature and barometric pressure. Yes, the Pro XE is the more superior rangefinder, but it all comes down to what you are looking for; because the Tour V5 Shift gets the job done very well for $175 less. A pro golfer needs every advantage they can get, and the best equipment to get it done when preparing for tournaments, but for most of us average golfers, the Pro XE might not be necessary unless we have the extra money to spend.
